April 2005
Round Rock Express (4/30/05) We drive to Round Rock for a night game, watching the AAA Express beat up on a team from Oklahoma. The stadium is super-clean and family-friendly, there's plenty of parking, and they put Henry's name on the scoreboard in honor of his birthday. |

Big Boy Bed (4/28/05) One of Henry's first nights outside of a crib, this time at the Barton Creek Resort in Austin (he slept in a bunk bed in San Diego). After much thrashing around and few trips in and out of his bed, he finally falls asleep. |
Henry and Dee Anne (4/25/05) They have a lot of fun together. |

A Poet? (4/24/05) Henry has such a wonderful way of expressing himself with words. As we were finishing our lunch today, he spotted a hang glider that had just launched from the mountaintop. "Look," he said. "There's a man floating in the sky." And two days ago I gave him a bedtime kiss and accidently rubbed him with my beard. He said, "Daddy, you scratched me with your pokies!" I'm still laughing at that two days later. And of course, every couple of days he'll say to me, or to Jill, "Daddy," (or "Mommy") I love you." |

Heading Home (4/20/05) Another big day. We spend the morning in La Jolla, first on the beach at La Jolla Cove, and then having lunch in town. Heading home, we hit traffic on the 405 so we move to the Pacific Coast Highway, stopping in Malibu for coffee, ice cream, and a splash in the fountain. |

Recovery Day (4/19/05) I think we are too tired to take pictures today, but we still have fun. We spend the morning at Balboa park, on the playground and visting the science museum. Then we have lunch at an Italian restaurant before heading back for naptime. Dinner tonight is on the wharf, watching the aircraft carriers across the harbor from dinner at Anthony's fish house. |

Legoland and Giants Game (4/18/05) We all have fun at Legoland. The highlights are the airplane ride, where Henry has a lever that lets him takeoff and land the airplane, and the car racing, where he races well in the first race and then decides to turn around and face traffic in the second. In the evening, we visit Petco Park for the Giants v. Padres game. Pete, Grace, Henry, and I sit behind 3rd base near the field, while Betty, Kate, Jill, and Evelyn sit under cover behind home plate. This is important as the temperature dives into the fifties and it begins to rain. We watch the game and then beat the rush by leaving in the 7th. |

San Diego Trip (4/17/05) We leave for San Diego today with the Wenzels, renting a big 12 passenger van to hold all of us. We have an easy drive down, and then gather before we go to dinner at "Kimo Sabe" in the Hillcrest area. We have dessert in the diner next door, where I take a photo with Grace and Henry in a photo booth. |

Hi! (4/16/05) Evelyn plays. She's quite active after feedings, cooing and smiling and making eye contact. She's also trying to roll over already, lifting her legs and using them to try to turn. We've been surprised that she can actually move around a little. It was a shock the first time we left her in her bed for a little while and came back to find her in a different spot! |

Grace (4/14/05) We opened the pool this week, and Grace and Henry spend the afternoon splashing around. |
Looking Good (4/11/05) Henry's new sunglasses give him a suave look as he poses in front of his rocket car. |

Cheers! (4/10/05) We enjoy a quick drink at Lucky's while Jenn babysits Henry and Grace at our house. Evelyn and Kate are sleeping in their carseats under our chairs. We're capping off a fun afternoon-we cooked burgers on the grill, ate outside in the beautiful sunshine, and then moved inside to watch Tiger Woods win the Masters. |
Maritime Festival (4/9/05) We all have a ball hanging out at the waterfront. The local Festival features a touch tank with starfish, a shark, and lots of other little creatures, and there is a tugboat shuttle out to a "pirate ship" replica. Afterwards we have lunch together at Brophy's. |

Austin, Texas (3/29 - 4/4 Mark/Hen, - 4/8 Jill/Evelyn) We have fun in Austin with Aunt Jan and Uncle Mike, eating some great meals and seeing their new home. We spend lots of time at the Barton Creek Resort, hitting many golf balls and here enjoying the baby pool. |
